Decision Making: The Human Brain & AI Teaming
Students will be able to explain how the brain makes decisions and compare decision-making processes in the human brain and Artificial Intelligence (AI); investigate and determine factors that increase group work success as well as indicators of failure in group dynamics, including AI.
Overview
Students compare how the human brain and artificial intelligence make decisions and look at what leads group work to succeed or fail, including in teams that involve AI. The lesson opens with a short video or infographic on brain function and a Quick Draw AI activity with reflection. Students research careers in neuroscience and AI, analyze case studies of human and AI decision-making, and discuss cognitive biases, neural pathways, and algorithms. In the elaboration, groups research real-life AI decision-making systems, debate human versus AI decisions, and create a study game such as Kahoot or Gimkit. Evaluation uses an exit ticket and a Gimkit practice kit.
Lesson Objectives
- Explain how the brain makes decisions and compare decision-making processes in the human brain and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students will be able to investigate and determine factors that increase group work success as well as indicators of failure in group dynamics, including AI.
