The Defense Health Agency-Public Health (DHA PH), Aberdeen GEMS 2027 program will be offered by the Entomological Sciences Division. DHA PH Bug Camp is an immersive and educational summer program designed to provide youth with a unique opportunity to explore the captivating world of insects and foster a love for entomology with a focus on public health in military environments.

Student applications are completed in the online platform Ideal-Logic. Applications for 2027 GEMS will open soon and be due April 30, 2027. Part of your application requires responding to the following prompts:

• Prompt 1: Describe a time you observed an insect or spider in detail. What was it doing, what questions did you have about its behavior, and how did you (or how could you) find the answers?
• Prompt 2: Imagine you are a Health Detective for your town. Your job is to keep people safe from diseases spread by pests like mosquitoes and ticks. How would you convince your neighbors to protect themselves and their backyards? Why do you think this job is important?
